Lake Arvo — the watery heart of the Sila
Lake Arvo is a man-made mountain reservoir at ~1,280 m, in the heart of the Sila National Park in Calabria (southern Italy), surrounded by pine laricio forests. One of the largest reservoirs in central-southern Italy and the tourist focal point of Lorica.

What to do at Lake Arvo
Water sports
Kayak, canoe, pedalo, SUP, electric boats. Sport fishing all year (pike, trout, tench, perch). Water temperature in August is ~22-24 °C.
Walking & biking
The 30 km lakeside path goes around the entire lake, ~7-8 hours on foot or half a day by mountain bike. Gentle ascents, exceptional views.
Year-round
In autumn, the foliage of pine laricio frames the water in deep orange. In winter, the lake can partially freeze, offering sunsets on ice. In spring: blooms and birdwatching (herons, cormorants, peregrine falcons).
